Ready for the next generation

Like everybody knows Tomb Raider: Memories is a fan made game, but not for this must to be a little baby respect the AAA games...

We are so far of TRM prototype release, and like the final version of this game will see the light between tree to five years, it must to be ready for next generation, this no mean that the game will have millions and millions of polygons (We will use the same poly-count as TRU), it means thet we will use all tools and technologies available to get the juice and make something that input to the videogaming world. Like we have said before, we are using the awarding Unreal Engine 3.5 in its free version (Unreal Development Kit) taking advantage of each of the technologies offered with its monthly updates.

Tomb Raider: Memories will use all those features, first we will talk about the one of everyone knows or have heard, Nvidia's PhysX, it provides a high level of physics simulations, now using its new API Apex, TRM in its upcoming releases make use natively of this technology in one and all of its levels like we have said since beginning of the development, you will say the walls, cloth, glass, and the vegetation break in your face (to some extent) thanks to Mrs. Lara croft, also, the game will have physics puzzles playing with PhysX, of course if you have an Nvidia video card that supports the game.

Continuing, we have 3D vision, do not panic, this is not natively XD, For peace of many people, then if you want, you can put on your 3D glasses, activate the option and enter in a new dimension of game experience with up to 3 screens at the same time.

Now Mr. DirectX 11 (Windows vista SP2 y 7 Nvidia cards from 4xx series), many of you have to be familiar with the version 9.0c used from Legend, actually and perhaps up to half of the project development it will use this version, we will migrate to version 11 only when get ready for (when Windows XP get close to its expiration date XD), maybe the game have 2 modes, DX 10 and 11 or maybe only the last, whatever, the game will run only with the appropriate hardware.

well, those are the main technologies that we will squeeze possible, remember that for retaliate about DLCs of TRU, TRM will be exclusive for Windows and Nvidia video cards with support for PhysX and DX 10 and/or 11 but you can use an ATI card for graphics and the Nvidia for physics.

Change not so extreme

Last year was difficult about development of Tomb Raider: Memories, we had som problems with animation, esqueleton, and programming, but nevertheless we have overcome these obstacles, we have a good skeleton that works very well in the engine, we have a realistic animation system and lack of one programmer we have three, and with this we can start developing the game itself.

After Looking what we did with Lara in Memories, we wanted to compare with little information about the new official game, Lara has reinvented herself, and what we want with Memories is unify argument of Core games with Crystal's, we wanted to make Lara more realistic from every point of view, then evaluate (with Jothon, creative director) the current Lara's model (Underworld)She not need so much changes, Lara's new design has been accompanying us since Legend has all the features of the first model in 1996 but much more realistic and less exaggerated, even in its first images (braid - Legend) in her eyes noticed a certain air of darkness and mystery, the same that inspired its 6 game. Having determined that this face is that we now identify as Lara (because ninth installment not yet out), we continued with her body and proportions, Underworld have more realistic proportions and body isn't 90, 60, 90, but if she is a survivor should have more muscle, we left her abdomen as it is, but define arms to try to be closer to FMV Trailer from Anniversary, and legs, well, they only was retouched a little, We also evaluate her attributes, and they 2 are a feature on Lara, but it should be recognized just for them, then bring Lara to the operating room to make a reduction plasty mammography, she is an archaeologist, not a Tomb Model, so they are reduced to a normal and realistic size. Hair that already is a more texturing than anything else, and we make that Fall and moving in real time, also changed the way it is rendered because UDK is not good with transparencies, we had to put the same shader that used in Anniversary and it locks like in Underworld, the worse it may take as in TRA with fog, you might see the strands even if Lara is not visible.

Personality was defined from the beginning, we did not want the lucid and fur taker of AOD or Legend, Lara wanted a slightly more charismatic and humble, Cudgel, but to continue being who is, a survivor, in short as TRA and TR1, and also want more human Lara always not be a super heroine , she get hits, send her to fly, she cuts, scrapes and bruises , also some enemies suffer dismemberment, all this simply to make the game and Lara much more realistic.

Well, that was all for today, regards and thanks for read.

New UDK graphics

Hi everyone...

Now we have started seriously with development of the game , soon testers can be test the game prototype, (perhaps, if very much people join on this, there are a limit of people), but now, a little new about graphics in the game (prototype doesn't have full graphics, in it only can test some Lara's movements)...

I have found in UT3 demo that has UDK one level with full development in graphics, even it has better graphics than Gears of War and it looks like Mirror's Edge, Judge for yourself.

Tomb Raider: Memories can have graphics like this, and they say that Epic has adapted Nvidia's 3D Vision in UDK, also now it admits Apex Cloth and Apex destruction (Apex destruction allows environment destruction like in Batman Arkham Asylum with PhysX enabled).

Well, I hope you like this, and here you have more level screenshots.

trm

Hi everyone… it's a long time since last post and throughout the last few weeks we were busy, and I say "we" because I am not alone developing this project, there are some people accompanying me, contributing his bit of sand to make this is possible, some are making content for the game and others helped me a lot with the trailer and as I name them here, because without their help, trailer can’t stay here:

•Doppel => He designs Manor exterior in fixing work.

•SreMonGar => without his help we have not official website, And he will help us making assets for game.

•Alexandra => She is Lara’s voice for TRM.

•Monsieur => He is our fashion designer, he designs Lara Actual outfit, Very soon we can see more innovations from he in other outfits for Lara.

•Pakstr => He writes the same slogan that we can listen in trailer.

•Dusan => Although he is not in the development team and may not know any of this, we thank you for creating XNALara, which has served us very much, we've got some models from the program.

•I know are more people, you can see the complete list (perhaps outdated) development team in the TRM Team section.

Regards and see you lather

just another day at the office

Haaaaa… Just another day at the office… and it doesn’t finish, what we have upload this week in CroftGeneration… is a little gag about what comes around… Next Friday April 23 we can watch first teaser trailer of Tomb Raider: Memories – The Fan Game FREEWARE… Graphics will be like in the trailer… and you can find a surprise.bigsmile.gif

Also we will have new wallapers and renders… and complete video of Lara an doppels’s Dancing… to join these and learn all steps… ja ja… To someone I wall tell that trailer will be realized today… but I had some technical problems, slows, and I had to learn to new topics in the short time of this project, for example to use professional plug-in to make videos (right mow I don’t learn to use these), and that you can watch in download section is mi first human model animation of my life… pardon if it is very erratic… I promise to improve… I swear cry.gif.
Ok… these was my ultimate entry… “Watch continuation of this chapter next week, in the same channer and same hour”… “ don’t miss it” idea.gif.
