Tracey Jane McAndrew, also known in the professional world as Nell McAndrew, first joined a modeling agency at the suggestion of her hairdresser. She began her career as a catalog and magazine model and as a Marilyn Monroe look-alike. In the UK, she first appeared on television as one of the hostesses on the Man O Man contest in 1996. She was also an advertising model for Adidas, Terry Calver and Gary Rocher.

In 1998, during the E3 video game event in Los Angeles, she was introduced to play Lara and promote Tomb Raider III. At the time she was praised for her excellent interpretation of the character, although she did not look like Lara’s face.

In the year 1999 the scandal jumped, Nell McAndrew appeared naked in the Playboy magazine next to several photos of Lara from the game and the Tomb Raider logo. Obviously the company EIDOS was very upset about this, she didn’t count with permission and the company intention is never to show Lara naked.

Nell was immediately fired, and a judge forced to remove, in the English edition of Playboy, all references to Tomb Raider.
