This time, I bring you some news from the Tomb Raider world, and what is coming soon.

Evercade Retro Console

The company Blaze Entertainment, has a retro console on the market since May 2020, and this time, they collaborated with Crystal Dynamics to bring in physical format, the first three Tomb Raider games in cartridge format.

These 3 first games are the classics, not the remastered one. This console is designed to run only the classic games. This collection has the name “Tomb Raider Collection 1”, so presumably they plan to release the rest of the classic games in another pack.

This first collection will be released this July for 25 euros, but you can purchase the console pack plus the game for 110 euros, or 120 euros for the portable version.

Embracer Group new course

In Embracer Group’s recent press release, it announces its upcoming restructuring, dividing its companies into three groups, with the first two to be effective through 2025, and the third taking effect now. The divisions are as follows:

  • Asmodee: This company will be formed by developers of board games based on video games.
  • Coffee Stain & Friends: Based on the development of indie, premium A/AA and free-to-play games for PC, consoles and mobile.
  • Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends: Focused on AAA video games for PC and consoles, including games such as The Lord of the Rings and the Tomb Raider saga, among others.

Therefore, Crystal Dynamics and EIDOS Montreal, will be part of this new gaming division with other companies. It will also include PLAION Group, Freemode, Dark Horse and others.

Phil Rogers will take over the leadership of the “Middle-Earth Enterprises & Friends” division, which continues in the position of CEO in the Crystal Dynamics and EIDOS Montreal group. Companies such as PLAION, Dark Horse and Freemode will report their companies’ movements from now on.

Tomb Raider I-II-III Remastered Patch

Since last April 11th, the second patch of Tomb Raider I-II-III Remastered is already available, some of the improvements included in the patch are:

  • Fixed several bugs.
  • Graphical improvements in lighting, textures and 3D objects implementation.
  • New poses for photo mode.
  • Two new outfits to use inside the photo mode: Leopard suit (beta version for original TR2 Gold) and classic suit with scratches.

It is foreseeable that there will be also a patch 3 (maybe by mid May), since it has been found in the game files, the photo mode has more commented poses, which are not included in this patch. It is very easy to unblock them, since you only have to edit the txt file “POSE.TXT” in the DATA directory of Tomb Raider “1”, and remove the comments, which is done by deleting the “//” symbols.

I take this update to remind you that the Fan dubbing in Spanish has been improved, if you use to play in spanish, now you can download 1.2 version, which includes improvements in the audio volume and re-recorded some dialogues that are better within the game.

Also, with this new patch, it has been removed an Easter Egg that was in Tomb Raider 3, under Sophia Leigh’s desktop, it appeared a password which was used to unzip the file “CUT10” inside the game directory. As this file no longer exists, we share with you its content, which it consists on new renders based on classic wallpapers. Also these new images are added to their corresponding sections, Wallpapers of Tomb Raider 1, Tomb Raider 2 and Tomb Raider 3.
