The Hollywood Reporter media outlet The Hollywood Reporter jumped in with an exclusive, confirming that one of its sources says that actress, screenwriter and producer, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emmy winner for the British series “Fleabag” or films like “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, will write the new Tomb Raider series.

This project was revealed in its recent agreement with Amazon, which included two major projects:

  • Series adapted from Claudia Lux’s novel, Sign Here.
  • Series of the video game Tomb Raider.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who considers herself a fan of the saga, would be the scriptwriter of this new series with the alliance of the production company dj2 Entertainment, specialized in video game adaptations, such as the two Sonic movies, produced by Paramount.

Recently, it was announced that Amazon Games would publish globally the next Tomb Raider game, developed by Crystal Dynamics with the new Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine. In addition to this, the series written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, will also be part of the canon of the games, thus forming a unique timeline.

This is not all, as in addition, Amazon would also create a new movie for this new reunification of existing timelines.

Recall that Metro Goldwyn Mayer lost the rights to the second Tomb Raider movie, and it returned to Crystal Dynamics. With the recent agreement between the developer and Amazon Games, they would certainly return to Amazon, who bought Metro Goldwyn Mayer last year.

There is a lot of news coming for Tomb Raider, and more details about the animated series for Netflix, written by Tasha Huo, will be shown soon.
