1.Parisian Back Streets
As you would expect at this level of training, Lara will tell you how to use your controls for each movement you need to make. The game begins with Lara fleeing from the police and finding herself in an alleyway. In front of you is a closed door and a chocolate bar, and to your right is a small alleyway with a dog and another door at the end, which is also closed. The only way out of the alleyway is upwards.
Standing in the position where you started the game, go forward and pick up the chocolate bar. This is a health bar and gives you a 10% health boost. Health collectibles in the game have a green sparkle on them. Climb into the green compartment on your left.
Jump up to grab hold of the ledge above and climb up onto it. Jump across to the other ledge. At this point, there are two paths: the one removed in the original version and the one removed but added in the Remaster.
Option 1. Alternative path removed (available in the Remaster)
Start on the straight path and turn left, walk with your back to the stairs, push the barrel toward the pipe, climb it and turn left, collect the ammunition, from there jump onto the cables and hang onto the balcony where there is a key, drop down and use the key on the door next to a lamppost (don’t go past it), follow Lara’s instructions to enter the park and collect the lever, listen to Lara and you will be able to go through the broken door. There is medicine on the left. Continue to the right and get rid of the guard. Look for a door near the corner, use the lever to open it and go upstairs to get more medicine. Return the way you came and follow the street. In front of the brown door, the one at the bottom of the stairs, you will see some posters floating. Climb on them; it’s a trash can. From there, you can reach a ledge (from here on, everything is invisible. If you want to see where you’re walking and the guard watching you, go back to the park gate where you used the key and use it again). Climb onto a balcony, but be careful of the guard. Climb up the pipe and jump onto the invisible wall in front of you to grab hold. You have to turn the corner and reach a concrete platform. From there, jump to the ground and you will have completed this secret level. You can also take out the guard without him seeing you (or arresting you) and climb up the pipe near the guardhouse. This is the path that theoretically corresponds to the tutorial.
Option 2. Original path
Walk to the right until you reach a ladder on the wall. Climb up it; the doors at the back are locked, so don’t bother with them for now. Go down to the next platform and follow it to the open window. Go through it and, once inside the room, open the drawers and look for money and a chocolate bar. There is a cabinet that will not open until you have a lever. Now you will have to find the lever to open it. Go out the window and climb the ladder next to it, then go down to the ledge next to it.
Pick up the gold doubloons from the ground on the left side of the wooden scaffolding. Walk to the end of the scaffolding and jump to the other building (circle + left joystick + X). Jump over the railing on the left and grab another chocolate bar. Walk to the end of the balcony and jump across it to the ledge opposite. Keep walking until you reach the drainpipe on the wall.
Climb up and when you reach the top, keep holding onto the edge on the right. You’ll notice that Lara gets tired and eventually lets go, so don’t waste any time and quickly slide over to the ledge on the right and let go. Now turn to the wall on the right and jump to grab the edge above. Cross to the right and climb onto the roof.
As soon as you go up, you will see a small house with a door in front of you, but it is locked. You must obtain the lever that opens it. NOTE: this lever opens either the cabinet in the previous room or this door, so think about which one you want to open because once used, you cannot use it again. I chose the door, so continue to the corner of the ceiling where there is a barrel. If you see that Lara suddenly walks slowly, don’t worry, it’s normal, a glitch, so to speak. Move the oil barrel back and you will see that it exposes part of the broken fence. Go down with the X button, pick up the lever, and go back up. Go to the door and open it. Gain a little strength.
There is a cabinet that Lara can look inside. Open it and there will be a weapon inside. You can continue forward in the game or go back for more items.
If you decided to collect them, go back to the open window and open the wardrobe where you will find a necklace and several other items, as well as more gold doubloons.
Go to the opening on the roof and climb down to where you took the lever. Drop down and hang onto the edge of the roof. Head left and drop onto the ledge. From here, walk stealthily and go to the end of the platform. You will see a guard. Take the key, approach him carefully, and press X. This will cause Lara to take him by surprise and beat him up. Go back the way you came down and open the gate with the key. Go to the ladder attached to the wall and climb down it. A cutscene will show Lara being discovered by police in helicopters. She manages to get into an abandoned building and the police follow her…
