From now on, you will take control of Kurtis Trent, a guy who has almost the same moves as Lara, although he is desperately slow and cannot sprint. Unfortunately, Miss Croft has not lent him her backpack, and if you access the inventory, you will see that this new playable character only has a Boran X pistol, with its corresponding ammunition, and a piece of crystal. As for his spectacular flying disc, forget about it, as he only uses it in some video animation sequences.
You must reach the ceiling of the elevator stopped on a lower floor, descend slowly and avoid any falls that would be fatal. Collect the ammunition for Boran X and climb down from the edge to the floor below. All the doors are closed and you will not encounter any enemies until I tell you to later on.
Continue descending and grab some new ammunition for Boran X, then jump onto the ledge opposite, climb down the ladder, and jump from the edge of the walkway in front of you. Climb up, cross the walkway, and drop down to land next to some Health Pills. Kurtis will find few healing items during his part of the adventure, so don’t forget to pick them up and use them sparingly.
Climb down the edge opposite the lower platform and do the same through the elevator shaft. Open and go through the elevator hatch to fall inside, although you will see that it is not operational.
Climb down the two ladders and jump to grab hold of the gap in the upper walkway where the railing is missing. Pull yourself up and open the door. Draw your weapon and take out the guy who will open the front door with a few shots.
Move forward a little to see an animation of how a creature’s claw grabs the mercenary, who is still alive, and drags him away through a ventilation duct. Pick up the ammunition for Boran X, which is in front of the corpse, and reach the end of the corridor, where you will encounter another madman.
Turn right and go through the open door to talk to a rather upset and terrified man. He was one of the truck drivers who transported the sleeper from Turkey and, as payment, became part of the menu of Proto, the monster created by Boaz, who now roams freely around the sanatorium.
Leave the room and press action near the door on the right. Kurtis has paranormal powers and, thanks to his ability to see the future, he will obtain a Panel Code (06289). Enter this code into the panel to open the door and, when you reach the next room, kill another enemy.
Cross the hallway and open the door at the end to face another madman. Enter the next area through the door at the end. Eliminate both the madman who approaches you and the one in the room on the right, where you will find a Chocolate Bar. If you go a little further, three new madmen will appear, one of them dressed in red who will not harm you but will make it difficult for you to aim at the bad guys.
Search the dining room tables for ammunition for Boran X and a chocolate bar. Then go to the front door, the one with a red light above it, and memorize the number on the left (38471).
Proceed down the hallway, eliminating another madman along the way, and go through the door at the end. You will arrive at what appears to be an autopsy room with the corpse of a failed Proto hanging from the ceiling. Collect both the Boran X ammunition and the Strahov Assistant Pass lying at the feet of the scientist’s body.
Return to the dining room and use the pass to open the door on the right side. Climb the ladder and look on the right side for a Large First Aid Kit. Head to the other side, jump over the gap in the walkway, and enter the code for the red light door (38471) on the panel to open it. Go there, cross it, climb the ladder, and open the door at the end.
Go to the right to activate a video sequence in which the Proto corners a scientist in the autopsy room next to the hallway where Kurtis is located. Kill the madman who comes running from the end of the hallway and go there. Advance until you can’t go any further and press action near the ventilation duct grilles to move them aside.
Crouch down inside, jump vertically when you reach the end, and pull yourself up to access the upper ventilation duct. Drop down into the autopsy room and remove another grate at the end of the room to enter the next ventilation duct. Jump vertically again to climb onto the duct above and reach the other side, where you will see the Proto, stuffed with human flesh, escaping through a ventilation duct.
Once downstairs, collect the ammunition for Boran X and shoot the fuel bombs near the fan to cause an explosion. Now that the broken ladder has fallen to the ground, climb up to the platform through the hole it left behind and press the switch to stop the fan. Crouch down and squeeze through the blades, enter the ventilation duct in the corner, and when you exit into the hallway, head to the right.
